Summer is just around the corner and everyone is getting excited about being able to travel again. Temperatures are on the rise (rapidly!) That is why I compiled a list of the Best European Summer 2022 Travel Destinations! These are my top picks of places you need to add to your travel list!
Summer is on the horizon and everyone is getting that travel itch. Countries are announcing relaxation of Covid measures. Malta is one of them (FINALLY!) As from 2nd May, we don’t have to wear masks except when visiting old people’s homes, going to the hospital and on flights. Things are starting to get back to normal. I feel like I am crawling out of the pandemic like a hibernating bear, ready to experience life again after hiding inside.
Now that restrictions are being eased, travel is becoming slightly more easier. That is why I decided that now is the perfect time to share with you my top list of European Summer destinations you must visit this season!
Are you ready? There is a lot to talk about in this blog post so buckle up!
Croatia:
This is a no brainer!
Croatia is known for its beaches, parties and history. I visited Rovinj in 2020 and had a blast. It’s a relaxed town with stunning beaches, good food and the people are some of the nicest people I have ever met.
Dubrovnik and Split are major tourist destinations and thus, they are slightly more busy and more expensive than Rovinj. Regardless of where you want to go, Croatia should be on your list this year!

Spain:
Vamos a la playa!
Spain is one of Europe’s top travel destinations. Millions of people flock to the country every year for its food, beaches, history and nightlife. The most notable destinations in Spain are Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. Barcelona is a must.
Fun fact: Barcelona was the first time I traveled with a friend! This was back in 2016 when I was still a baby haha!
I also spent a week in Malaga and had a fab time. The beaches were amazing, nightlife was popping and the food was out of this world. What more could you ask for?

I have an in-detail guide on what to do in Malaga. Check it out here!
Malta:
I can’t do a Best Summer Destinations post without mentioning my home country. Not tooting my own horn here, but Malta comes to life during Summer. We are an island so we’re surrounded by water and we have some of the most beautiful beaches. Millions visit Malta every year! As a party island, Summer is the best time to visit. There’s something going on every day so you’ll never get bored.

Greece:
Ah, Greece – one of my favorite places in the world for so many reasons! Firstly, it reminds me so much of home. The people, the culture, the food… everything! Secondly, it is just out of this world. Mykonos will forever remain one of my favorite trips I went on. Greece is waiting for you!

Portugal:
Another Mediterranean gem. You can’t go wrong with visiting Mediterranean countries for Summer and Portugal is one of them! If you like sightseeing, good food, hot weather and cold, refreshing beaches, Portugal is the place for you.

Italy:
Now hear me out on this one. Personally, I don’t like to travel to a country where I can’t go to the beach. So if I’m heading to Florence or Rome or any other major city in Italy, I’ll simply go during the cooler season. Reason being is it’s unbearably hot.
My tip is to go somewhere near the water like Capri, Amalfi or even Sicily. However, that is my opinion! If you are more into sightseeing than the beach, Italy is the perfect place for you.

And that brings an end to this short yet hopefully helpful article! I focused on beach destinations because that’s where the majority of people tend to travel to during Summer and for a reason! Temperatures are unbearable sometimes and refreshing yourself in the water is a must.
If you would like another blog post focused on places that are more about sightseeing, let me know in the comments!
