Not only is Mdina full of history and charm, it is full of the perfect spots for your Instagram feed! Check out this post for the best Instagram spots in Mdina, Malta.
Hello & welcome back to my blog!
Ever since quarantine started, I made a promise to myself to explore my home country.
I made it a point to learn more about Malta’s history and document my experience!
I started off with Valletta and I actually wrote another post regarding the best Instagram spots in the city (I think you should go check it out š ). My next stop was Mdina. I already wrote a blog post about the best things to do in Mdina. This time, I am going to talk about how you can spice up your Instagram feed with pictures of Mdina āØ
1. Mdina Gate To Start Off Your Instagram Feed:
The iconic Mdina Gate. Featured in the hit TV series Game of Thrones, the Mdina Gate has quickly become a favourite amongst travelers and Instagram influencers. You can not go to Mdina and not snap a pic here! I recommend going early in the morning before 9am before church starts and before crowds start to gather.
2. St Paul’s Cathedral:
As soon as you walk into Mdina, make a left, walk straight and look to your right, you will see thisĀ stunningĀ cathedral. Trust me, you can’t miss it! It is another popular influencer spot and naturally me and Jas Rolyn stopped to snap some pretty pictures! You might need some fancy editing to remove the cars but I couldn’t be bothered to do that!
3. Random Side StreetsĀ In Mdina Will Give Your Instagram A Mysterious Vibe:
Mdina, just like Valletta, is full of pretty narrow streets that are all full of history! Whenever I am there, I start picturing ladies wearing big dresses and horses with carriages riding down the streets. Yes, Mdina is that old! And the Maltese nobility lived there mostly (they still do) so I am 100% certain there were rich ladies with extravagant dresses walking down those streets.

4. The Mdina Blue Door That Every Instagram Influencer Poses In Front Of:
I’m not going to lie, I got lost finding this door but when I did, I screamed in excitement and pulled Jas Rolyn with me! This is another landmark photo location that you must go. We spent a total of 20 minutes posing and taking videos and having the time of our lives. We were lucky as there were no people around but it’s usually pretty crowded. But don’t let the crowds discourage you because the pictures will turn out stunning and it will be so worth it in the end.
5. Fontanella Tea Garden For Stunning Views of Mdina & Beyond:
Fontanella Tea Garden is one of my favourite eating spots on the island. Not only is the food delicious but also you get a stunning view of the entire west side of Malta! Make sure you ask for a table upstairs. While you’re there, order yourself a piece of cake (you won’t be disappointed) as well as a pastizz! Take a look at the feast we had:
6. Mdina Bastions:
Caution: please be safe when taking pictures here! The fall is pretty deep and you can seriously injure yourself.
Lastly, I recommend going to the bastions to snap some pictures with the stunning view of Malta underneath you. It is actually one of my favourite hangout locations. Me and my friends would just sit on the benches and chill there on warm Summer nights! Plus, that stunning view tho .. you can’t beat that
