Weekend trip to Lake Konstanz

Weekend trip to Lake Konstanz

Another place crossed off my bucket list!

Hi everyone, long time no post! I have been busy adjusting to living here in Germany. This weekend me and my boyfriend decided to go to Lake Konstanz. Actually, he woke me up at 6:30 in the morning and told me to pack my bags because he planned a trip to Konstanz. I never got out of bed that fast haha. We live about 3.5 hours away which isn’t bad at all.

We packed everything in 30 minutes, I made us some sandwiches for the trip, got in the car and we were on our way!

Konstanz is located close to the Austrian-Italian border. Everyone knows how to speak German (obviously) and French which I found very surprising. We booked a hotel by the lake and the views were simply stunning! The first thing we did when we got there was drop off our bags and walk around Niederburg which is the Old Town in Konstanz.

What I noticed is these fabric tassels (I think that’s what they’re called) hanging all over the town. The town is very small and you can walk around in 30 minutes but if you’re planning on going to Konstanz, I do suggest going to the Old Town!

There is also a cathedral and a mini model of the city which I thought was super cute!

We stopped by this French-inspired restaurant called Chez Leon. L had octopus with alfredo pasta and I had pizza. I also saw they had homemade Tiramisu on the menu and I couldn’t help myself and ordered us one. I’m not lying when I tell you that it is one of the best tiramisus I ever had. The total came out to 40 euros for both of us including drinks which wasn’t bad at all!

Probably my favourite part of this whole mini trip is the sunset walk by the lake. I mean .. look at how gorgeous this picture turned out!

We sat down on a bench and just soaked in the beauty. It was a very relaxing moment for both of us. It made me feel extremely grateful for my life out here and of course, I felt extremely grateful for Luis. I wanted to capture this moment so I pulled out my trusty Polaroid Camera and snapped these photos of us!

We planned to go to the flower island the next day (yes a flower island!). Also known as Mainau, this island os off the lake. There is also a butterfly garden! Unfortunately, it was closed but I do suggest you visit! There used to be a ferry but they built a bridge now which makes going to the island a whole lot easier and cheaper.

And that brings an end to this short blog post. Lake Konstanz has so much more to offer! It is a gorgeous place and if you’re looking for a mini Winter and Summer getaway, this is the place for you. If you want to know more of what I get up to here in Germany, my social media accounts are linked in the sidebar! Thank you and I’ll see you in my next blog post!
